"A great selection of wines to taste started the weekend off well on friday night. The tasting hosted by John our expert from Mathew Clarke introduce a fine italian selection from a vibrant and fruity Merlot/Sangiovese Vipra Rossa to a tantilisingly dry Spumante called Fantinel. Saturday's first expert gave new ideas for herbs and spices in foods and a fine selection of unusual & tasty condiments to compliment any dish were available to try. Our own local cheese producer showed the fine range of local cheeses and a couple of exotic examples & the skill they show in the wonderful cheeses they make themselves at J J Sandham farm & dairy. A real 'citrusy' lancashire crumbly with cranberries was one of the gems on offer along with about a dozen others showing the diversity of cheeses locally produced. Head Chef Jason Griffiths and his team produced a fantastic menu for dinner with local asparagus and parma ham starter, roast loin of local salt marsh lamb and an array of tempting sweets followed by home made petit fours and chocolates were but a few of the choices available." itinery from 2007
